Original Christian Song, Produced and Performed by Dan Holder

Back in 1981, inspired by a parable in Matthew 13, I wrote the lyrics and a basic melody for this song, then revised both lyrics and melody in 1986, but it still didn’t merit recording. I was playing around with an “open” (DADGAD) tuning and its chord patterns the other day, and melodies for the verse and bridge emerged that fit the lyrics well. The chorus is all that remains of the ’81 & ’86 versions.

Gary Dugan plays B3 on it and orchestrated the horns – Chicago-style.
